Dear Mr. Denton:

Following the discovery of intergranular stress corrosion cracking at Nine Mile point Unit 1, an inter disciplinary Task Force of industry experts was established.

This Task Force investigated various attributes of the intergranular stress corrosion cracking phenomena.

The attached "Pipe Crack Task Force Report" documents the results of these investigations and is provided for your information.

In addition, copies of the referenced report have been forwarded under separate cover to Messrs.

Vollmer and Collins.

Copies of the report have been previously provided to Messrs.

Vassallo and Hazelton of your staff.
