Inspection No. 50-220/80-03 This refers to an unannounced inspection conducted by R. A. Brown of our Region II office on March 13-14, 1980.

A shipment of radioactive waste shipped. from your facility was inspected upon arrival at the Chem-Nuclear

systems, Inc., Barnwell, South Carolina disposal site.

Areas'xamined during the tnspection and. our findings are discussed in the enclosed inspection report.

Within these areas, the tnspection consisted of a review of'he shipping papers, placarding and labeling requirements, radiation measurements, selective contamination

surveys, and observations by the inspector.

Within the scope of this inspection, no items of noncompliance were disclosed.

In accordance with Section 2.790 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice,,"

Par t 2, Title 10,.

Code; of Federal Regulations, a, copy of this letter and the. enclosed inspection report; will be placed in the NRC's. Public. Document Room.. If this report contains any information that you (or your contractor
