Gentlemen:
Subject:
Inspection 50-410/79-02
This refers to your letter dated
June
28, 1979, in response
to our letter
dated
June 18, 1979.
Thank you for informing us of the corrective
and preventive actions documented
in your letter. It is still our interpretation of ASME Section III and
Regulatory Guide 1.19 that the welds in question
should be inspected
by
radiography.
Based
on your letter of June 28, 1979, you are in agreement
)
with the requirement for radiographic
examination but question the ability to
obtain meaningful results using this method.
Review of the initial procedure qualification radiographs
taken July 12,
1979
confirms the ability to perform a meaningful volumetric examination of these
welds using radiography.
We will review the results of these
examinations
during a future inspection.
Your cooperation with us is appreciated.
Sincerely,
yZ/
