CLOSEOUT OF STAFF ACTIVITIES ON NRC BULLETIN 89-01, SUPPLEMENT 2
FOR DIABLO CANYON (TAC NOS.
H81611 AND H81612)
On June 28, 1991, the NRC staff issued Supplement 2 to NRC Bulletin (NRCB) 89-01, "Failure of Westinghouse Steam Generator Tube Mechanical Plugs."
Supplement 2 to the Bulletin requested that actions similar to those requested in NRC Bulletin 89-01 be extended to include all Westinghouse mechanical plugs fabricated from thermally treated Inconel 600.
These actions are necessary to ensure that these plugs will continue to provide adequate assurance for reactor coolant system pressure boundary integrity under normal operating conditions, transients, and postulated accidents.
By letter DCL-91-203 dated August 13,
- 1991, you responded to Supplement 2 to the Bulletin by providing the information requested in the Actions Re uested portion.
The NRC staff has reviewed your response and finds the information

and planned/accomplished actions to be acceptable.
This completes the staff effort on Supplement 2 to NRC Bulletin 89-01 for Diablo Canyon and closes. TAC Nos.
