This refers to the management
meeting held in the Region
V office on September
30,
1993.
During this meeting,
we discussed
recent organizational
changes
at Pacific Gas
and Electric
(PGEE)
and your efforts to improve the communication of manage-
ment expectations
to your employees
and to improve the effectiveness
of your
corrective action program for items of relatively low safety significance.
In
addition,
we discussed
current issues
which included:
1) the use of a crane
near the turbine building, 2) recent
boron dilution events
at Diablo Canyon,
3)
an update
on the
4
KV and
12
KV cable failures,
and 4) key findings of your
safety
system functional audit of the residual
heat
removal
(RHR) system.
As discussed
during the meeting,
we share your concerns
about the need for
improvement in determining corrective actions for issues
of lesser safety
significance
and for timely implementation of your corrective actions.
We
encourage
you to strive to sustain
successful
performance
and to seek
additional
improvements..
