NRC INSPECTION

REPORT

NOS. 50-275/93-22

AND 50-323/93-22

This refers to the routine inspection

conducted

by,M. Miller, F.

Gee,

M. Tschiltz,

and

D. Corporandy during the period from July

7 through

August

17,

1993.

This inspection

examined your activities

as authorized

by

NRC License

Nos.

DPR-80 and DPR-82.

At the conclusion of the inspection,

the

inspectors

discussed their findings with members of the

PGSE staff.

Areas

examined during this inspection

are described

in the enclosed

inspection

report.

Within these

areas,

the inspection consisted of selective

examinations of procedures

and representative

records,

interviews with

personnel,

and observations

by the inspectors.

One violation of NRC requirements

was identified involving ineffective

corrective actions for

a condition adverse

to quality involving the control of

lubricants.

Despite several

occurrences

in recent years,

your corrective

actions to prevent the improper mixing of lubricants

have not been effective,

as indicated

by the recent mixing of oil in Unit

1 and

2 auxiliary salt water

pump motors.

Nevertheless,

based

on the actions your staff has taken or

initiated during this inspection to provide improved control of lubricants,

a

written response

to thi s Notice is not required.

In accordance

with 10 CFR 2.790(a),

a copy of this letter and the enclosures

wi 11

be placed in the

NRC Public Document

Room.

Should you have

any questions

concerning this inspection,

we will be pleased

to discuss

them with you.

Sincerely,

C. A. VanDenburgh
