FOR DIABLO CANYON UNITS 1 'AND 2 (TAC NOS.
73168 AND 73169)
By letter dated June 12, 1989, the Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PGIIE) responded to NRC Bulletin (NRCB) 89-01 with regard to Diablo Canyon Units 1
and 2.
Your response indicated that the first replacements of steam generator (SG) tube plugs would be required for Unit 1 at the fourth refueling outage, and for Unit 2 at the third refueling outage.
You committed to replace the SG tube plugs in each unit no later than the last refueling outage before the plug exhausts its predicted lifetime.
, Your staff has recently confirmed by telephone that the'emedial actions have been implemented on the schedule given in your letter of June 12, 1989.
Your response to NRCB 89-01 was reviewed by the NRC staff and found to be consistent with the actions requested.
Therefore, NRC staff action on NRCB 89-01 for Diablo Canyon is complete and TAC Numbers 73168 and 73169 are being closed.
However, note that Supplement 2 to NRCB 89-01, issued on June 28, 1991, requires additional response.
Your response to NRCB 89-01 Supplement 2 will be reviewed by the staff at a later time.
