Dear Mr. Kempton:
July 26, 1991 In your letter to the NRC dated October 1, 1990, you requested that we send you a copy of the draft USGS report on the Diablo Canyon seismic re-evaluation program.
In our response of November 7, 1990, we indicated that a team of NRC staff experts was conducting the overall review of the PG&E's Long-Term Seismic Program (LTSP),
and that a number of consultants, including the U.S.
Geological
- Survey, had been retained by the NRC to assist in the review.
In our letter we stated that Agency policy precludes release of draft material, but we promised to send you a copy of the NRC staff's safety evaluation report on the LTSP when issued.
The staff 's safety evaluation report on the LTSP has recently been issued, and a copy is enclosed.
As we indicated in our November 7, 1990 letter, the USGS report on its review of the LTSP geological and geophysical interpretations is included as Appendix C of the safety evaluation report.
I hope that the enclosed safety evaluation report is of use to you in evaluating the seismic characteristics off the coast of San Luis Obispo County.
