SUBJECT:
CLOSEOUT OF NRC BULLETIN 88-10 AND SUPPLEMENT 1, NONCONFORMING MOLDED-'CASE CIRCUIT BREAKERS (TAC NOS. 71287 AND 71288)
On November 22, 1988, the NRC staff issued NRC Bulletin No. 88-10, "Nonconforming Molded-Case Circuit Breakers" (the Bulletin).
By letters dated March 31 and June 30, 1989, Pacific Gas and Electric Company responded to the Bulletin.
Your responses indicate that the actions requested by the Bulletin either have been, or will be met for the Diablo Canyon Power Plant, Unit Nos.
1 and 2.
On August 7, 1989 the NRC staff issued Supplement 1 to the Bulletin (the Supplement),
providing additional clarification of certain aspects of the actions requested by the Bulletin.
The Supplement also requested that you re-examine your responses to the Bulletin and correct them if you find that your actions are at variance with the as-clarified Bulletin.
The Supplement indicated that if you determine that the your actions are still in conformance with the Bulletin as clarified, no further action is required.
Recent discussions with your staff have confirmed that you have determined that your
-actions are in conformance with the Bulletin as clarified by the Supplement.
A detailed technical review of your responses has not been performed by the NRC staff.
However, the actions taken in response to the Bulletin are subject to inspection by the NRC staff at a later date.
If a subsequent inspection identifies deficiencies in your actions or responses, this issue will be reopened.
We presently consider your response to Bulletin 88-10 to be complete for Diablo Canyon, and are closing the TAC numbers referenced above.
If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact me.
