ENCLOSURE RE/VEST FOR INFORMATION DIABLO CANYON SPENT FUEL POOL EXPANSION RACT-TO-RACK INTERACTIONS l.

In the single and the multirack studies, the effects of rotational degrees of freedon were not included.

Provide iustification for not includina these effects.

Discuss the potential contribution of rocking motions.

2.

In the single and the multirack studies, the low coefficient of friction of 0.2 was used.

However, the prior analysis indicated that the hiah coefficient of friction of 0.8 would yield hiqher impact forces.

Justify the use of the lower coefficient of friction.

3.

To account for the fluid coupling effects, the distances between the adjacent rows of racks considered are 7.5 inches for the multirack and infinity for the single rack analysis.

Provide a comparison usinq a

consistent distance for the two cases which conservatively bounds the cross-coupling effects for (I) maximum impact, and (2) maximum displacement.

Use of a smaller distance, such as 7.5 inches, would require justification for the condition when adjacent racks move in phase with the modelled racks.

4.

Discuss in more detail the results of each analysis, including the time-history of displacement for each degree of freedom and the time-history of impact forces.
