SUBJECT:

ANONYI/IOUS ALLEGATION ON DIABLO CANYON The NRC recently received an allegation from an anonymous individual who alleges that shear stress calculations for welds and members performed by Bechtel-Gaithersburg for Diablo Canyon Unit 2 used the Bechtel-San Francisco procedures which are less conservative then those normally used by Bechtel-Gaithersburg.

During our recent audit at your offices in San Francisco we learned that a similar anonymous concern was raised within the Bechtel-Gaithersburg office.

We request that you address this issue in a response to this letter by January 28, 1985.
