Piping and Pipe Supports - Request for Additional Information During the week of October 22, 1984 NRC staff and consultants audited, at the PG8E/Bechtel Offices in San Francisco, designs of piping and pipe supports for Diablo Canyon Unit 2.
Based on the audit we have determined that the informa-tion identified in the enclosure is required for our evaluation regarding a
conclusion on the adequacy and qualification of the Unit 2 piping and pipe supports.
We request that you provide the information within one week of receipt of this letter.

Provide the methodology used by W for piping support base plate analysis, including flexibilityeffects.
Show that this has been reviewed and accepted by the
- OCP, and that it corresponds to that used by PGSE and Bechtel.

Provide the verification of the computer program PIPSAN used by W for analyzing piping supports.
Show that this program has been
- reviewed, verified and approved by the DCP.
3.
Show that the DCP has verified that W has included in the W piping support design criteria all changes reflected in OCM-M9, Rev.
11 "Guidelines for Design of Class 1 Supports."
4.
Provide the basis for specifying a tolerance of +105 on modulus of elasticity as stated in PGRE "Procedure for Piping Stress
- Analysis, Diablo Canyon Units 1 and 2," Procedure P-ll, Rev. 7, and W document AM-SSA-2577, Vol. 1, Rev. 3, March 1983.
5.
Provide the procedures and design documents used by Bechtel-Gaithersburg for the analysis of piping and piping supports at Diablo Canyon Unit No.
2, including the document "Project Instruction Manual for Piping Stress Analysis-DC 2, Job.
No. 15320-003, Rev. 1."
