Docket Nos.:

50-275 and 50-323 Mr. J. 0. Schuyler, Yice President Nuclear Power Generation Pacific Gas and Electric Company 77 Beale Street San Fransico, California 94106

Dear Mr. Schuyler:

Subject:

SLO-2 Archeological Site DISTRIBUTION CDocket-Fi.l e 50='275/323 NRC PDR Local PDR NSIC PRC System LBII3 Reading JLee HSchierling NGrace EJordan LChandler, OELD ACRS (16)

Our letter of February 27, 1984 requested information, in accordance with our responsibility under 36 CFR 800, to determine the effect which the operation and maintenance activities of the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant may have on the SLO-2 archeological site located on the property.

We also requested that you provide a report documenting the analysis you performed in making the finding for determination of effect and that you work in close consultation with the State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO).

On May 29, 1984, we received your no-effect determination and analysis performed in consultation with the SHPO.

We also received the SHPO's letter, enclosed to your submittal, agreeing in the determination.

Upon review of the letters and analysis the NRC agrees that the operation and maintenance of the plant will not have an effect on cultural resources (SLO-2) listed in or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places.

This information is provided in accordance with 36 CFR 800.4(b)(1).

Sincerely, cc:
