Closure of Action 6c of Topic 3: Steam Generator Technical Review Action No. Action Status The staff will revise the relevant inspection
- Draft revisions of IP 50001, Steam Generator Replacement procedures, in coordination with regional offices Inspection, and IP 71111.08, Inservice Inspection and the NRR Division of Inspection and Regional Activities, were developed and provided to the Division of Support, to incorporate elements of the guidance Inspection and Regional Support (DIRS). The suggested into the inspection program, to assist NRC changes were documented in ROP Feedback Forms and oversight of steam generator modifications or entered into the ROP database for review and consideration changing operating conditions that do not involve by the Document Lead (IP owner) in DIRS.
licensing actions.
- The OIG performed an audit of the ROP Baseline Inspection Procedures in April 2016 and recommended changes. The audit found that the IPs needed to ensure mandatory and 6c. discretionary language was clear and consistent for inspectors and managers responsible for performing the baseline inspections. The changes based on the SONGS LL report will be implemented in parallel with changes that will address the comments from the OIG audit. Implementing both sets of changes simultaneously will increase efficiency by only updating the IPs once.
- The changes to the IPs will be effective on Jan 1, 2017, which is typically when IP revisions take effect (i.e., first calendar day of a new year) to minimize the impact on the baseline inspection program.
