SUMMARY
OF MEETING BETWEEN THE NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION AND DUKE POWER REPRESENTATIVE CONCERNING ITS LICENSE RENEWAL TECHNICAL INFORMATION SUBMITTALS ASSOCIATED WITH TOPICAL REPORT ORLP-1001 (TAC.NOS. M96277, 96278, AND 96279)
On December 5, 1996, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff met with the representative of the Duke Power Company to discuss license renewal specification for the format and content and an illustrative example pertaining to the Oconee reactor building. The list of meeting attendees is contained in the Attachment.
During the meeting, the staff indicated it had not completed its review.
However, based on the initial review, it appeared that the revised example for the reactor building generally contained sufficient information to permit the staff to begin its technical review. In addition, the staff indicated that grease leakage, concrete cracks, etc., should be discussed as part of the operating experience. Further description of existing inspection programs (e.g., Oconee Civil Inspection Program) should also be provided.
The PDLR staff plans to visit the Duke Power Headquarters Office (at Charlotte, North Carolina) on January 7, 1997. The purpose of the visit was discussed with the Duke representative. The staff indicated that, based on the staff preliminary review of the reactor building example, it appeared that the staff would'be able to provide its final comments on format and content to Duke at that meeting, which is ahead of the original schedule.
