SUBJECT: NOTICE OF DEVIATION
(INSPECTION REPORT NOS. 50-269/89-07, 50-270/89-07 AND 50-287/89-07)
In your response, dated April 17, 1989, to the subject Notice of Deviation, you
took exception to part (b) of the deviation.
The NRC has reviewed your
response,
as well as other relevant documents,
and determined that the
installation did not meet the design criteria in the Regulatory Guide at the
time of the inspection. However, your original submittal, in the discussion of
design with respect to recording of Regulatory Guide 1.97 variables, uses words
that may be interpreted in different ways.
Therefore, the NRC accepts your
denial of part (b) as a deviation from a commitment. Your response states that
you intend to install dedicated recorders for the four variables in question,
and on this basis, the matter is closed.
We will examine the installation of
these recorders during future inspections.
