Catawba Nuclear Station, Units 1 and 2: Request for Additional Information Regarding License Amendment Request to Revise Emergency Action Level Scheme (TAC Nos. MF6 166 and MF6 167)By letter dated April 30, 2015 (Reference 1), Duke Energy submitted a License Amendment Request (LAR) to adopt new Emergency Action Levels (EALs) for use at the Catawba Nuclear Stations (CNS), Units 1 and 2.On January 20, 2016 (Reference 2), the NRC issued Requests for Additional Information (RAIs)regarding the LAR submittal.

The response to the RAIs is provided in Enclosure 1 of this letter.Enclosure 2 provides the CNS redline version of the Emergency Action Level Technical Bases U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission CNS-1 6-010 Page 2 Document Revision 1. Enclosure 3 provides the CNS clean version of the Emergency Action Level Document Revision 1.CNS anticipates that the LAR as approved will be effective upon issuance and requests implementation by March 10, 2017, due to the need for operator training.

This request supersedes the previous CNS request for a 180-day implementation period.The conclusions of the original Regulatory Evaluation and Environmental Consideration contained in the April 30, 2015, Reference I letter are unaffected as a result of this RAI response.Pursuant to 10 CER 50.91, a copy of this LAR is being provided to the appropriate State of South Carolina official.There are no regulatory commitments contained in this letter or its enclosure.
