Acceptance Review Determination - Pilgrim License Amendment Request to Modify Emergency Response Organization Training for the On-Shift Chem Tech (MF7283)

Murray, The purpose of this e-mail is to provide the results of the NRC staffs acceptance review for the subject license amendment request.

By letter dated January 14, 2016 (Agencywide Documents and Access Management System Accession No. ML16021A459), Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc. (the licensee) requested Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff review and approval of a revision to the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station Site Emergency Plan to decrease the Emergency Response Organization staff training requirements identified for the "on-site" Chemistry Technician.

The acceptance review was performed to determine if there is sufficient technical information in scope and depth to allow the NRC staff to complete its detailed technical review. The acceptance review is also intended to identify whether the application has any readily apparent information insufficiencies in its characterization of the regulatory requirements or the licensing basis of the plant.

The NRC staff has concluded that the subject license amendment request does provide technical information in sufficient detail to enable the NRC staff to proceed with its detailed technical review and make an independent assessment regarding the acceptability of the proposed license amendment request in terms of regulatory requirements and the protection of public health and safety and the environment. If needed, the NRC staff may submit a request for additional information to complete its technical review. You will be advised of any further information needed to support the NRC staffs detailed technical review by separate correspondence.
