Re:
Oconee Nuclear Station - Units 1, 2, and 3 The staff has reviewed your July 17, 1987, submittal responding to our request for additional information on tornado missiles at Oconee. Additional clarification is needed on three of your responses - 1d, 7 and 8. A request for additional clarification, with the questions numbered as before, i.e., 1d, 7, and 8, is enclosed. One additional question, number 14, has been added.
Please respond to this request for additional information within 45 days of the date of this letter.
The reporting and/or recordkeeping requirements contained in this letter affect fewer than ten respondents; therefore, OMB clearance is not required under P.L.96-511.

REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION OCONEE TORNADO MISSILE REVIEW 1d.
Provide a summary-of the results obtained in your reanalysis of tornado missiles when including ricochet and secondary missiles.
- 7. Provide the fdult trees used to derive the final failure probability for the emergency feedwater (EFW) system. Show how the results were combined to produce the overall failure probability.
- 8. Discuss the independency of missiles which were calculated to damage both the east and west penetration areas in the event of a receding tornado in the northwest quadrant.
- 14.
Provide an overall numerical reliability for the combination of the Emergency Feedwater System and Safe shutdown Facility's Auxiliary Service Water System to provide water to the steam generators in the event of a tornado. Indicate how this value was arrived at.
