MEETING ON IMPROVEMENT OF TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS Re:

Oconee Nuclear Station, Units 1, 2 and 3 We have initiated a special project which reexamines the Technical Specifications and seeks.ways of improving them. We are presently gathering information on problems associated with the Technical Specifications. As part of the information gathering phase, we would like to meet with your operation staff at the Oconee Nuclear Station.

The objectives of the trip would be to:

1. Talk directly to operational, maintenance and compliance staff, including operators, to get their views on the Technical Specifications, including:
a. Impact of the Technical Specifications on plant personnel resources (for example, number of people and number of tests);
b. Problem areas which should be corrected; and
c. Recommendations on what could be done to improve the Technical Specifications; and
2. Go through an operator's day-to-day experience in interfacing with the Technical Specifications in terms of logs, forms, tags and other administrative aspects.
