- OCONEE NUCLEAR STATION
Dear Mr. McCollum:
This refers to the meeting conducted by mutual request at the Oconee Nuclear Station on May 15. 1998, to discuss the activities of the NRC management oversight group (MOG). Enclosure 1 is a list of meeting attendees.
-At this meeting, we presented the inspection criteria, rollup criteria, and exit strategy which will be used by the MOG. Additionally, we presented the results of the latest assessment of Oconee performance performed during the Plant Performance Review in each of the Senior Management Meeting Template areas. This information is provided in Enclosure 2. You presented the status of your Recovery Plan focus areas being monitored by the MOG. A copy of your handout reflecting this information is provided as Enclosure 3.
It is our opinion that this meeting was beneficial in providing an understanding of activities performed and monitored by the MOG. It was mutually agreed that during the next MOG meeting with Oconee management, discussions will include: criteria for resolution of open items; discussion of the plant performance review; discussions of the licensee's evaluation of the plant performance review: further discussion on the recovery plan closure criteria; and an update on open items. The NRC also will be prepared to discuss the results of recent inspections at the meeting. The licensee should be prepared to discuss their progress on Recovery Plan activities.
In accordance with Section 2.790(a) of the NRC's "Rules of Practice," Part 2, Title 10, Code of Federal.Regulations, a copy of this letter and its enclosures will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
