SUMMARY
OF MEETING WITH DUKE POWER COMPANY ON LICENSE RENEWAL ACTIVITIES FOR OCONEE NUCLEAR STATION, UNITS 1, 2, AND 3 On July 17, 1997, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff met with representatives of Duke Power Company (Duke) to provide staff feedback on the electrical and structural examples provided to the staff by Duke at a June 3, 1997, meeting (see the NRC meeting summary dated June 26, 1997).
The specific areas for which Duke requested feedback regarding level of detail needed for an application were identified in a June 10, 1997, Duke letter. A list of meeting attendees is provided in Attachment 1.
At the meeting, the NRC staff provided comments in the specific areas requested by Duke as well as additional format and content comments identified by the staff. Attachment 2 was provided by the staff to illustrate the type of information requested for cables. Although a comprehensive review to determine the completeness or technical adequacy of the examples was not performed by the staff, a number of technical comments were identified and were provided to Duke at the meeting to illustrate the type of information and level of detail needed for a complete submittal.
The staff's comments provided at the meeting were subsequently documented in its letter to Duke dated August 4, 1997.
Subject to the comments contained in the August 4 letter, the staff indicated that the examples provide the type of information that if provided for the complete submittal should result in submittals with format and content sufficient for the staff to begin a technical review.
