SUMMARY
OF SEPTEMBER 4,1997, MEETING ON CONVERSION TO THE IMPROVED TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS On September 4, 1997, the NRC met with representatives of the Duke Energy Corporation (DEC) staff at the NRC headquarters in Rockville, Maryland, to discuss the upcoming submittal to convert the present Oconee Technical Specifications (TS) to the Improved TS (ITS).
Enclosed is a list of the individuals who attended the meeting.
Some of the topics discussed included the status of staff review of the McGuire and Catawba ITS submittals, problem areas that have been found in submittals from other licensees, the present target date for the Oconee ITS submittal (late October), the staffs schedule to complete its review (approximately 12-16 months at present), the incorporation of license conditions, and how to process changes to the present TS that are submitted while the ITS is being reviewed that are needed prior to completion of the ITS review (any such submittal will contain the changes in both formats).
