The NRC staff, concludes that the analysis of the reactivity anomaly, which occurred at the Oconee Nuclear Station, Unit laftr' 97.4 effective full power days of operation during cle 6 and the corrective act6ns taken by DPC to compensate for this anomaly are acceptable. Since the Oconee Unit I was operated in accordance with the Units Technical peci fications at the time of this anomaly and the actions taken yDPC are acceptable, the staff considers thi matter to be closed.

The staff has completed the review of the Reportable Occurrance Report (RO-269/80-23) which you submitted by letter dated August 5, 1980 (W. 0.,

Parker to J. P. O'Reilly, Director Region II OIE) and the additional information you provided by letter dated November 20, 1980 in response to the NRR's October 16, 1980 request. Our review of this information and the information provided by members of your organization in a tele phone conversation on December 9, 1980, has found that Duke Power Company (DPC) has adequately addressed our concerns..

The NRC staff concludes that the analysis of the reactivity anomaly, which occurred at the Oconee Nuclear Station, Unit 1 after 97.4 effective full power days of operation during Cycle 6, and the corrective actions taken by DPC to compensate for this anomaly are acceptable. Since the Oconee Unit l.was operated in accordance with the Unit's Technical Speci fications at the time of this anomaly and the actions taken by DPC are acceptable, the staff considers this matter to be closed.
