SUMMARY
OF JUNE 2, 2015, MEETING WITH DUKE ENERGY PROGRESS, INC., TO DISCUSS THE H. B. ROBINSON STEAM ELECTRIC PLANT UNIT NO. 2 LICENSE AMENDMENT REQUEST TO ADOPT NATIONAL FIRE PROTECTION ASSOCIATION STANDARD 805 REGARDING FIRE MODELING AND PROBABILISTIC RISK ASSESSMENT ISSUES (MF2746)
On June 2, 2015, a Category 1 public meeting was held between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and representatives of Duke Energy Progress, Inc. (the licensee) via a public teleconference. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the H.B. Robinson Unit 2 license amendment request to adopt National Fire Protection Association Standard 805 regarding fire modeling and probabilistic risk assessment issues. The meeting notice and agenda dated May 22, 2015, are available in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) at Accession No. ML15142A482. There were no presentation slides associated with the meeting. A list of attendees is enclosed.
On May 14, 2015, the NRC staff sent the licensee a list of fire modeling issues that required additional discussion (ADAMS Accession No. ML15137A003). These issues were discussed at the public meeting, including how the licensee may have already addressed the issues in docketed submittals and additional analyses that the licensee might perform. Based on these discussions, the NRC staff will consider whether a further request for additional information related to fire modeling is necessary. Regarding probabilistic risk assessment issues, the licensee discussed the design and crediting of the very early warning fire detection system that will be installed in the cable spreading room. Based on these discussions the NRC staff will consider whether a further request for additional information related to probabilistic risk assessment is necessary.
No regulatory decisions were made at the meeting. A member of the public was in attendance but did not offer any comments. No Public Meeting Feedback forms were received.
