Acceptance Review for CNS, MNS, & ONS Combined LAR
- Julie, By letter dated July 21, 2014, Duke Energy submitted a license amendment request for Catawba Nuclear Station (CNS), McGuire Nuclear Station (MNS), and Oconee Nuclear Station (ONS). The requested amendment would update the licensed operator training requirements to be consistent with the National Academy for Nuclear Training program as well as implement additional administrative changes (TAC Nos.
MF4491 & MF4492 for CNS, TAC Nos. MF4493 & MF4494 for MNS, and TAC Nos. MF4495, MF4496, &
MF4497 for ONS).
The purpose of this e-mail is to provide you with the results of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staffs acceptance review of this submittal. The acceptance review was performed to determine if there is sufficient technical information in scope and depth to allow the NRC staff to complete its detailed technical review. The acceptance review is also intended to identify whether the application has any readily apparent information insufficiencies in its characterization of the regulatory requirements or the licensing basis of the plants.
The NRC staff has reviewed your submittal and concluded that it does provide technical information in sufficient detail to enable the NRC staff to proceed with its detailed technical review and make an independent assessment regarding the acceptability of the proposed amendment in terms of regulatory requirements and protection of public health and safety and the environment.
