Dear Mr. Jones:
Your letter dated April 8, 1982, from Mr. P. W. Howe, requested the use of the Summer 1978 Addenda of Section XI ASME Code (72/78) as a basis for the Reactor Coolant Pump Casing Inspection to be conducted during the first ten years Inservice Inspection program. This inspection is currently underway.
As a basis for the request Mr. Howe stated that the 77/78 code provides more specific instruction for performing tests than does the previous 74/75 code and therefore provides more complete testing.
We have reviewed your request and conclude that the use of the 77/78 code is acceptable as requested.
