NRC GENERIC LETTER (GL) 89-13, "SERVICE WATER SYSTEM PROBLEMS AFFECTING SAFETY-RELATED EQUIPMENT," DATED JULY 18, 1989 H. B. ROBINSON STEAM ELECTRIC PLANT, UNIT NO. 2 (TAC NO. 74053)
AND SHEARON HARRIS NUCLEAR POWER PLANT, UNIT 1 (TAC NO. 74011)
By letter dated January 26, 1990, Carolina Power & Light Company (CP&L) submitted the first of two required responses to Generic Letter 89-13 (GL).
Because of your commitment to complete each of the five recommended actions of GL 89-13 by startup from the next scheduled refueling outage, we accept your response as fulfilling this requirement of the GL.
We remind you that if a you choose a course of action different from the recommended actions of the GL you should document and retain in appropriate plant records a justification that the heat removal requirements of the service water system are satisfied by use of the alternative program.
We look forward to receiving the second (i.e., confirmation of implementation completion) of the two required responses to GL 89-13 in accordance with your above commitment.
