Part-Height Radiant Heat Shield Wall Removal from the Component Cooling Water (CCW) Pump Room, H.B. Robinson Steam Electric Plant, Unit 2 (TAC 63961)
By letter dated January 20, 1986, you requested a specific confirmation concerning the removal of a part-height radiant heat shield wall in the COW pump room at H.B. Robinson-2.
We have reviewed your submittal as well as your April 25, 1984 submittal, and our safety evaluation dated October 25, 1984.
Your letter dated April 25, 1984 stated that the CCW pump room will be equipped with automatic suppression systems, that a separation of 20 feet exists between redundant components of the safety shutdown system, and that no credit was given to the wall in your fire hazard analysis; therefore the wall is no longer requi red.
Based'on our review, we find that the CCW pump room radiant heat shield wall is not required since the pump room meets the requirements of Section ITT G.3 to Appendix R of 10 CFR Part 50. Therefore the wall can be removed as indicated in your letter dated April 25, 1986.
