Confirmation of Action This refers to my telephone conversation of June 15, 1979, with Mr. J. A.

Jones, Executive Vice President, regarding the indicated cracking in welds of the main feedwater piping system of the Robinson facility.

With regard to matters discussed, it is our understanding that your Robinson Nuclear Plant will not be returned to power operation without the concurrence of this office. Our concurrence will be based on a presentation to the NRC staff of the following:

1.

The results of your technical evaluation of the cause(s) of the defects in the feedwater piping.

2.

The corrective actions taken or to be taken to prevent recurrence of these or similar defects'in the feedwater piping systems.

Additionally, please provide for our analysis a representative sample of the defective area of one transition piece.

Please inform us imediately if your understanding of these items is different from that stated above.
