Dear Mr. Capps:

On November 21, 2013, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) completed an inspection at your McGuire Nuclear Station, Units 1 and 2, using Temporary Instruction (TI) 2515/186, Inspection of Procedures and Processes for Responding to Potential Aircraft Threats. On November 21, 2013, the NRC inspectors discussed the results of this inspection with Mr. Chuck Morris and other members of your staff. The inspectors documented the results of this inspection, as well as the resolutions to four previously identified Cyber Security issues, in the enclosed inspection report.

The objective of this inspection was to assess the implementation procedures and processes of McGuire Nuclear Station that are required by Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR), Part 50.54(hh)(1), which provides the requirements for responding to a potential aircraft threat. The results from this inspection, along with the results from this inspection performed at other operating commercial nuclear plants in the United States, will be used to evaluate the U.S. nuclear industrys readiness to safely respond to similar events. These results will also help the NRC to determine if additional regulatory actions are warranted.

The NRC inspectors did not identify any findings or violations of more than minor significance.
