San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Unit 1 Your letter of April 16, 1979, forwarded a list of topics which have been deleted from SEP review for San Onofre Unit 1. That letter requested that Southern California Edison (SCE) examine the list and respond either by confirming that the list is correct or by identifying any errors.
The results of SCE's examination of this list are provided as an enclosure to this letter.

COMMENTS ON LIST OF TOPICS DELETED FROM SEP
- 1. Topic VI-10.B -
Shared Engineered Safety Features, On-Site Emergency Power.and Service Systems for Multiple Unit Stations (Non-EI&C related).
This topic was erroneously deleted. The NRC's draft evaluation of this topic was forwarded to us by letter dated April 18, 1979.
Comments on the draft evaluation were forwarded to the NRC on May 17, 1979.
- 2. Topic VI Combustible Gas Control. The definition of this topic indicates that the criteria for evaluation is 10CFR50.44. This rule is not applicable to San Onofre Unit 1 since the Unit 1 core has stain less steel clad whereas 10CFR50.44 addresses only zircaloy clad cores.
Therefore, Topic VI-5 should be deleted from SEP review for San Onofre Unit 1.
- 3. Topic III-3.B - Underdrain Systems. San Onofre does not have an under drain system.
The topic should be deleted.
- 4. Topic VI-7.C.3 - PWR Loop Isolation Valve Closure.
San Onofre Unit 1 does not have loop isolation valves.
Therefore, this topic does not apply and should be deleted.
- 5. Topic VI-7.F - Accumulator Isolation Valves. San Onofre Unit 1 does not have accumulators as part of its Safety Injection System. The topic should be deleted.
- 6. Topic XV-1 Mnin Steam Line Failure Outside Containment (BWR).
This is a non-applicable BWR topic and should be deleted for San Onofre Unit 1.

Topic XV Loss of all AC Power. There are no current criteria for this topic, and it should be deleted.
- 8. Topic III-8.A -
Loose Parts Monitoring System. San Onofre Unit 1 does not have an LPMS.
Therefore, the topic should be deleted.
