Docket No. 50-206 Amendment Application No. 159 San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Unit 1 Enclosed is Amendment Application No. 159 to the Provisional Operating License DPR-13 for San Onofre Nuclear Ginerating Station, Unit 1. Amendment Application No. 159 consists of Proposed Change No. 186.
Proposed Change No. 186 is a request to revise Appendix A, Technical Specification 4.2, "Safety Injection and Containment Spray System Periodic Testing," to include surveillance of a planned modification to trip the safety injection and feedwater pumps on low-low RWST level.
The proposed modification assures that sufficient water inventory is available for containment spray during a fast sequence of events for a large break LOCA.
The proposed change also revises the diesel generator load rejection to take into account the concurrent feedwater and safety injection pump trips following a SISLOP.
This proposed change is required for SONGS 1 Return to Service from Cycle 10 Refueling Outage. Accordingly, SCE requests approval of the proposed change prior to the anticipated need date of February 19, 1989, to prevent delay for Unit 1 Startup.
Pursuant to 10CFR 170.12, the required amendment application fee of $150 is enclosed.
