By letter dated March 25, 1987, your Company provided the results of your investigation of alternatives to reduce crankshaft transient tor sional stresses on the San Onofre Unit No. 1 standby diesel generators.
It is our understanding that the staff of the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (ONRR) will have to review the proposed alternatives to assure that the one selected corrects the TDI crankshaft cracking problem and continued compliance with General Design Criterion 17 is ensured.
Since review of the corrective action is required by the ONRR staff, this application is subject to fees under 10 CFR 170. Therefore, it is requested that your Company remit the $150 application fee for your March 25, 1987 request. You will be billed for any additional costs for the review of your application in accordance with 10 CFR 170.12(c) and 170.21.
