Request for Additional Information Concerning San Onofre Unit 1 Response to IEB 85-03 Southern California Edison's letters of May 19, 1986, August 28, 1987, and October 23, 1987, pertaining to San Onofre Unit 1, contained the responses to IEB 85-03, "Motor Operated Valve Common Mode Failures During Plant Transients Due To Improper Switch Settings." A review of these responses indicates the need for additional information before our review can be completed. It is requested that you revise your response of October 23, 1987 to Question 1 about water hammer to indicate that factors such as valve closure times, piping lengths, flow conditions, procedures, and experience have been considered.

The information requested should be sent within 30 days of the date of this letter to:
