At the request of the NRC staff, we have added an entry, starting with this edition, that indicates the plant Availability for the previous month. The previous description of this status was submitted via the reference. We will continue to provide monthly updates of the information discussed in the enclosure for your information.

9 Enclosure PROGRESS ON SELECTED REGULATORY PROJECTS SAN ONOFRE UNIT 1 EDITION 16 Introduction The following is the sixteenth edition of the progress* on selected regulatory projects at San Onofre Unit 1. In this edition an entry indicating the previous month's plant Availability has been added. This number will be reported each month. Also included for information is a tally of all reactor trips during the last twelve months.
Third Train of Auxiliary Feedwater There has been no change in the status of this item.
TDI Diesel Generators There has been no change in the status of this item.
Control Room Habitability There has been no change in the status of this item.
Supplement 1 to NUREG-0737 In accordance with SCE's schedule for responding to NUREG-0737, Supplement 1 items, the criteria for a Safety Parameter Display System (SPDS) was to be finalized by January 9, 1987.
There has been a delay in this effort due to the resolution of other Supplement 1 items.
The SPDS criteria will be available by March 2, 1987.
Inadequate Core Cooling There has been no change in the status of this item.
Reactor Trips Experienced in Last Twelve Months In the last twelve months there have been two reactor trips. They occurred on July 17, 1986 and August 5, 1986.
Previous Month's Plant Availability The Availability of San Onofre Unit 1 for the month of January 1987 was 100%.
Progress represents the submittal of information to the NRC, completion of a modification with a regulatory due date, meetings or site visits by the NRC staff or their contractors.
Internal actions by SCE or the NRC staff continue on each item but are not reported in this document.
