Attention: Mr. Harold B. Ray, Senior Vice President, Power Systems

SUBJECT: NRC MEETING REPORT NOS. 50-206/361/362/93-24

This refers to the management meeting held with Southern California Edison

Company (SCE) and NRC Region V management at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating

Station (SONGS) on July 29, 1993. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss

the new organization structure and senior management changes at SONGS, the

status of Unit 1, recent Units 2 and 3 steam generator issues, and recent

engineering and maintenance issues. Details of the meeting are described in

the enclosed Meeting Report.

Overall we found the meeting to be beneficial.

We recognize the efforts you

have taken in the steam generator tube inspection program and in keeping us

informed of the results of those inspections. We support your continued

efforts to closely monitor the steam generator leakage in Unit 3 and to be

watchful for any indications of a more significant concern. In addition, we

will continue to monitor the impact of the organizational changes discussed

during the meeting for improvement of overall station performance and

communications.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790(a), a copy of this letter and the enclosure

will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.

Should you have any questions concerning this inspection, we will be pleased

to discuss them with you.

Sincerely,

. A.Va Denburgh,
