SAFETY INJECTION SYSTEM -
SAN ONOFRE UNIT 1 The Commission has issued the enclosed Amendment No. 57 to Provisional Operating License No. DPR-13 for the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Unit 1.
The amendment is in response to your application dated October 21, 1981.
Your application is supported by your October 16, 1981 letter and report-entitled "Safety Injection System Modifications, San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Unit 1, October 1981".
Although your-letter dated October 21,
- 1981, requested a license condition as we had previously requested, we have modified our position and have instead incorporated the change into the Appendix A Technical Specifications and Bases.
We have discussed this change with your staff and have obtained their agreement. The new specifications impose a requirement for periodic surveillance of the Safety Injection System.
Copies of our related Safety Evaluation and the Notice of Issuance are enclosed.
