The Commission has issued the enclosed Amendment No.38 to Provisional Operating License No. DPR-13 for the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Unit 1. The amendment consists of changes to the Technical Specifications in partial response to your request (Proposed Change No. 68) dated December 30, 1977. The pending portion of your request (Proposed Change No. 67)-will be handled-separately.
The amendment revises the Technical Specifications to:
(1) reduce the maximum allowable rate for pressurizer heatup from 199F/hour to TOoF/hour, (2) increase the maximum allowable rate for pressurizer cooldown from 195 9F/hour to 200*F/hour, and (3) delete the provisions of the Respiratory Protection Program (Section-6.12).
A copy of our related Safety Evaluation and the Notice of Issuance are also enclosed.
