Southern California Edison Company P. 0. BOX 800 2244 WALNUT GROVE AVENUE ROSEMEAD, CALIFORNIA 91770 F. R, NANDY TELEPHONE MANAGER OF NUCLEAR LICENSING April 5, 1989 (818) 302-1896 U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Attention: Document Control Desk Washington, D.C. 20555 Gentlemen:

Subject:

Docket No. 50-206 Radiological Consequences of Feedwater Line Break Outside Containment San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Unit 1 By letter dated November 20, 1987, SCE submitted the revised Cycle 10 auxiliary feedwater system transient analysis as Enclosure 2. SCE indicated that the radiological consequences for the feedwater line break transient were under review and committed to provide the results of this review to the NRC.

SCE has determined that the radiological consequences for this case are bounded by the results of the previous dose calculations submitted to the NRC by letter dated July 2, 1987 and approved in NRC letter dated July 16, 1987.

This dose evaluation has been included in the Updated FSAR for San Onofre Unit 1.

The NRC letter dated July 16, 1987, requested a written notification upon the completion of the single failure modifications to the steam flow/feedwater flow mismatch trip.

The Confirmatory Action Letter dated February 8, 1989, further requested a written certification of completion of all commitments prior to the Mode 2 entry. The request for written notification of the completion of the single failure modifications to the mismatch trip will, therefore, be satisfied by the certification letter as requested in the Confirmatory Action Letter.
