SAN ONOFRE NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION OPERATING INSTRUCTION #SO1-1.5-4 UNIT 1 JAN 22 1981 EMERGENCY Page 1 Revision 0 CONDENSER BAY FLOODING 1.0 SYMPTOM 1.1 Condenser Bay High Level Alarm.
1.2 Various 4 KV, 480 V and DC Ground Alarms with associated ACB trips.
1.3 Reheater Pit Sump High Level Alarm.
2.0 AUTOMATIC ACTION None 3.0 IMMEDIATE OPERATOR ACTION NOTE:
It is anticipated that, in the most severe case of a Circulat ing Water System piping failure in the Condenser Bay, the bay will be overflowing in approximately two minutes. Therefore, immediate corrective action must be taken upon initiation of the Condenser Bay High Level Alarm to prevent loss of critical equipment.
3.1 Dispatch an operator to the area immediately upon receiving High Level Alarm.
3.2 Notify Watch Engineer.
4.0 SUBSEQUENT OPERATING ACTION 4.1 Upon notification by the Watch Engineer or Operator, stop the Circu lating Water Pump associated with the leak.
4.2 Start reducing unit load for one Circulating Water Pump operation (382 MWe-85%).
NOTE:
If the water level in the Condenser Bay threatens to cover the Heater Drain or Vacuum Pumps, stop the Running Pumps.
4.3 The Watch Engineer will evaluate the situation to determine if opera tion may be safely continued or the Unit should be shut down.
4.4 The Watch Engineer will initiate appropriate action to Dewater the Condenser Bay and return affected equipment to service.
