ADDENDUM NO.
1 SPECIFICATION BSO-112 CONCRETE BLOCK MASONRY This Addendum revises the original specification as follows: -All other conditions and requirements specified in the original :specification remain unchanged.
Refer to Paragraph 3.01, A.
Scope of Work. Additional.specification requirements. The work shall include the furnishing and complete installation of all split face block
-and veneer as indicated on the drawings and as specified.
Refer to Paragraph 3.03 Materials. Add the following.
K. Split Face Block. Shall be hollow masonry, or solid (for veneer) units, Grade A, conforming with ASTM C-90, as manufactured by the North Hollywood Block Division of the Kaiser Steel Corp., the Pre-Cast Concrete Products Co., Long Beach, or an approved equal.
- 1. Size. Hollow Masonry Units shall be 8 inches wide, 4 inches high, and 8 or 16 inches long and solid units shall be 2 inches wide, 4" inches high, and 8 or 16 inches long as indicated on the drawings.
- 2. Type. Hollow Masonry Units shall be split face on the exterior side only. Solid Units may be split face both sides.
- 3. Samples of block and colored mortar shall be submitted to the Contractor for approval prior to the manufacture qf the block and installed items shall match approved samples in color and texture.
- 4. Color shall be '"hite" made with white cement, white sand and white aggregate, or "Charcoal" as manufactured by North Hollywood Block Division without white or red flecks.
- 5. -Shapes. Open and closed enp block, corner block,. bond beam block and -any other shapes required for the work indicated on the drawings shall be included.
- 6. Mortar shall be colored to match previously prepared samples submitted to and approved by the Contractor. Colors shall be white with white veneer units and charcoal grey with charcoal colored units.

-Reinforcing for block shall be as previously specified with the addition of standard Dur-O-Wal trussed horizontal reinforcement.

6 auge corrugated metal dovetail ties installed in metal dovetail--slots which are furnished and installed by others.
Reinforcement shall be placed as shown on the drawings.
- 8. Installation. Split faced block shall be installed with joints as specified for plain faced block and bonding as shown' on the drawings.
Veneer shall be anchored and grouted as shown on the drawings. Extreme care shall be taken to avoid grout splashes on the exposed faces of colored units and any defects shall be corrected immediately during installation.
