Letter dated September 17, 1979 from SCE (J. M. Curran) to NRC (R. H. Engelken)

The referenced letter provided written confirmation of our proRpt noti fication to you by telephone on September 14, 1979 of the indications dis covered in the Containment Spray System and Safety Injection System piping at San Onofre Unit 1. In accordance with IE Bulletin 79-17 Item 4 and our Technical Specification 6.9.2, the enclosed report is submitted as the re quired fourteen day written report.

In addition, a completed copy of Revi sion 1 to Licensee Event Report No.79-013 is enclosed, along with a completed copy of Licensee Event Report No.79-016.

The piping repairs described in the attached report have been reviewed in accordance with the provisions of 10 CFR 50.59 and determined not to in volve an unreviewed safety question.

The repairs described therein assure the structural integrity and continued operability of the subject lines.

A complete written report describing the results of inspections required by Item 2 of IE Bulletin 79-17 and corrective measures taken will be submitted to the NRC within 120 days of the issuance of the subject bulletin.
