CONTAINMENT LEAKAGE TESTING Re:

San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Unit No. 1 The Commission has issued the enclosed Amendment No. 75 to Provisional.

Operating License No. DPR-13 for San Onofre UnitNo. 1. This amendment consists of changes to the Technical Specifications in response to your application dated September 9, 1983.

The amendment authorizes changes to the Technical Specifications on con tainment leakage testing to achieve conformance with Appendix J to 10 CFR Part 50 of the Commission's regulations relating to Type A testing only.

The remaining aspects of the proposed changes related to containment leak testing remain under staff review. The Type A testing Technical Specifications are being issued now to support performance of the integrated leak rate test scheduled in the near future.

A Notice of Consideration of Issuance of Amendment to License and Proposed No Significant Hazards Consideration Determination and Opportunity for Hearing related to the requested action was published in the Federal Register on November 22, 1983 (48 FR 52827).

No request for hearing was received and no comments were received.

Some parts of the original proposed change on containment leak testing not related to Type A testing are being modified in response to staff comments.

These aspects will be the subject of a revised notice of proposed issuance in the next monthly Federal Register.
