I WVYLE LABORA1UME3 REPORT NO. 26321-1 SCIENTIFIC SERVICES &SYSTEMS GROUP WESTERN OPERATIONS, NORCO FACILITY PAGE NO 4 I

4.5 BOP 22 - Auxiliary Relay Cabinets The cabinet structure was qualified by analysis. The components were qualified by test to computer predicted test levels.

Multi-frequency and sinusoidal tests were performed on the components.

The test program is acceptable.

5.0 REVIEW OF NUCLEAR STEAM SUPPLY SYSTEM ITEMS 5.1 NSSS 1 b-l- PPS Items The TRS enveloped the RRS for a biaxial multi-frequency excitation.

A sine burst at four frequencies was superimposed on the random waveform to achieve enveloping at frequencies from 1 to 2 hz.

Minor mechanical and electrical deficiencies were noted. No judgement is;made herein as to the acceptability of these deficiencies.

In all other respects, the test program is acceptable.

5.2 NSSS 2 f - RCP SSSS Signal Processor The TRS enveloped the RRS above 12 hz, except as noted below. The accelerometers were adequately located. There were .no resonances detected in the signal processor. The TRS from the 16 hz sine beat excitation dipped below the predicted RRS at 40 and 65 hz but the ZPA was 1.8 times the required level, so this is judged to be acceptable.

The processor was supported at the back during the testing, and should, therefore, be supported in a similar manner in its cabinet mounting.

The test program is acceptable.

5.3 NSSS 9 - Indicators I The tests were performed with sine beat tests at each integer frequencies from 1 to 35 hz at 3.5 g's (limited to 18 inches d.a.)

The indicators are mounted in the main control console which has been shown to be rigid. The sine beat tests are judged to be of sufficient-le-vel-to-be-an--acceptable-test..for .these-devices..

No judgment is made here of the acceptability of certain functional questions.

I WYLE lAMES ": REPORT NO. 26321-1 SCIENTIFIC SERVICES & SYSTEMS GROUP WESTERN OPERATIONS, NORCO FACILITY PAGE NO 5 I 5.4 NSSS 10 - Indicating Controller I -

These devices are mounted in a rigid section of the main control panel. The items were tested with sine beat excitation from 1-35 hz. The peak acceleration level was 3 g's. Considering the mounting location, this is judged to be a sufficient test level.

5.5 NSSS 11 - Recorder This unit was tested with 3 g sine beats over a frequency range of 1-35 hz. The recorders are mounted ina panel which has been shown to be rigid. The sine beat level is judged to be sufficient, and the test is acceptable.

5.6 NSSS 16 & 17 - Nuclear Instrument Detector/Preamplifier/Filter The.TRS did not envelop the RRS below 4 hz. The lowest resonance I frequency by was 10 hz (the reported 6 hz resonance has been raised a design change). The items were adequately instrumented.

In the horizontal direction the TRS dipped below the RRS by 10%

at 70-80%hz. Considering the overall TRS, this is judged to be acceptable. In the vertical direction the TRS is below the RRS from 30 to 44 hz and above 70 hz. Considering the design of the detector and other static pull tests performed on it, this devi ation is judged to be acceptable. Considering the size, weight, design, andorientation of the pre-amplifier and filter, the deviation is judged to be acceptable..

The test program is acceptable.

5.7 NSSS 19 & 20 - Magnetic Flow Tube & Transmitter These items were subjected to sine beat tests from 2-3 g's.

Considering the compact and non-resonant nature of the items, the test is considered satisfactory.

5.8 NSSS 21 & 22 - Containment Purge Isolation Detector & Transmitter The TRS enveloped the RRS. The test was performed with biaxial multi-frequency excitation. The equipment was operated and monitored during the test.

The test program is acceptable.
