REDESIGN OF THE SAN ONOFRE NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION, UNIT NO. 1 SAFETY INJECTION SYSTEM The NRC staff has completed the review of your September 28, 1982 letter containing conceptual design information regarding a proposed redesign of the San Onofre Unit No. 1 safety injection system. The proposed redesign will separate the feedwater system from the safety injection system.
Based on our review, we find that your conceptual design is acceptable.
The staff's evaluation is enclosed.
Prior to final approval, a more detailed description of the proposed changes will be needed for NRC staff review. Within 60 days of receipt of this letter, please provide your schedule for the submittal of final design details and proposed modifications to the San Onofre Unit No. I technical specifications.
