SAN ONOFRE UNIT NO. 1:-MASONRY WALL TEST PROGIWAm The,NRC staff has completed the review of Y~our proposed masonry wall test program. Based on our review, we conclude that your proposed test program is acceptable subject to the following conditions:
- 1. The licensee will not take credit forDmasonry tensile strength of masonry bed joints in showing that the methodology used is more conservative than the test results unless flexure tests are performed to suNpport the values used. The NRC staff will review any revised
.methodology that proposed using the fn' asonry tensile strength. This condition was discussed with SCE personnel in a telephone conversation on March 25, 1982.
- 2. The pretest analyses of the test panel walls should be submitted to the staff for review prior to commencement of the tests.,
It is our understanding that based on this conditional approval, the test program will proceed.
