DOCKET 50-361 DOCKET 50-362 September 1981 AMENDMENT NO. 8 TO FIRE HAZARDS ANALYSIS INTRODUCTION Amendment No. 8 to the Fire Hazards Analysis (FHA) for San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Units 2 and 3 consists of insert pages that provide:

1. Changes to FHA text to amplify, update, or clarity the discus sion. These are indicated by a change bar and the number "8" in the outside margin, and the date and amendment number placed at the bottom of the page. The date and amendment number at the bottom of the page are also used to indicate pages that are changed due to relocation of text to eliminate blank space.

2. Changes to FRA text initiated by response to an NRC question, or amplification of the previous response. These are indicated by a change bar and the number "8" followed by the question number; e.g., 8-FQ015.2 identifies an amendment initiated by NRC question number 015.2. The question number is prefixed with "FQ" to correlate with question-impacted FSAR pages.

3. Responses to NRC questions, or amplification of previous response. These pages are to be inserted after the appropriate tab entitled Questions and Responses in the 1HA binders. The amendment number, date of issue, and page number appear at the bottom of each question and response (Q&R) page.

When an insert page in the amendment has the same number as an existing page in the FHA or Questions and Responses, the existing page has been superseded and should be removed. When an insert page does not have the same number as an existing page, the insert page is new and should be placed in its proper location. The attached List of Effective Pages should be used as a guide when inserting this amendment.
