VALVE RELIEF REQUEST NO. 22 SYSTEM:
Containment Spray COMPONENT: 2-054-C-611 2-069-C-611 CATEGORY:
C CLASS:
2 FUNCTION:
These check valves are in the Spray Chemical Addition Pumps mini-flow lines back to the Spray Chemical Storage Tank. The check valves are required to open to prevent overheating the Spray Chemical Addition Pumps.
TEST REQUIREMENT:Exercise valves in the open direction every three months.
BASIS FOR RELIEF: There is no adequate method for verifying that the check valves are open when tested. The lines in the Spray Chemical Addition System are heat traced which prevents monitoring an increase in temperature, and there are no pressure or flow indicators on the mini-flow lines.
ALTERNATE TESTING:
The check valves will be disassembled and hand stroked during refueling outages.
