SUBJECT:
INSERVICE TESTING RELIEF REQUEST FOR SAN ONOFRE UNIT 1 (TAC No. M82362)
Two relief requests from Inservice Testing (IST) requirements for San Onofre Unit 1 were submitted by you in a letter dated December 23, 1991.
The relief requests involve (1) inlet pressure measurements at the diesel fuel oil transfer pump and the salt water cooling pumps, and (2) valve stroke time measurements for valves having stroke times greater than ten seconds. Based on the enclosed safety evaluation report, the requested relief is granted.
Similar relief requests were granted to San Onofre Units 2 and 3 on October 2, 1991.
The hardware configuration and related issues at Unit 1 are similar to those at Units 2 and 3. The rationale and conclusions included in the Unit 1 safety evaluation are identical to those used in our earlier evaluation for Units 2 and 3.
